Nido

The Nido environment serves a purpose for the working mother.

After mom and baby have had time to bond and adjust to life outside of the womb (around 8 weeks, this is called the symbiotic period), baby may be introduced to the Nido community.

Here the baby will receive specialized care that allow them to feel as if they were in a home environment. The baby will remain in the Nido until they are comfortably walking, from this stage they will naturally transition into the nearby Infant Community (around 12 to 14 months old.)

Infant Community

The infant community is where the child who is walking comfortably begins to explore the world around them.

The classroom is designed to encourage movement, language development, sensorial exploration and independence.

Activities are provided for the toddler to explore and work with so that very specific skills can be developed.

Children's House

Casa

The Children’s House is where the child aged between 2½/3 years enters the next stage of development.

Here, in addition to learning new skills, the child will hone their development and co-ordination by being afforded the opportunity to refine their movements and skills through repetition of activities.

By the time the child is six years old, they have completed their first plane of development. The child has adapted to their time and space, developed independence and has received a holistic education based on a scientific pedagogy.

It is imperative that a child who attends a Montessori school, completes the entire three-year cycle if they are to benefit fully from the Montessori method.
